Pan African Network for the Conservation of Africa’s Natural Resources
The Pan African Network for the Conservation of Africa’s Natural Resources (PANCANR) is a regional civil society, Non-governmental, Non-religious, Non-partisan, Non-political, Non-profit) organization uniting individuals, professionals, and institutions in Africa and the diaspora committed to conserving and ensuring the sustainable utilization of Africa’s natural resources.
Recognizing the increasing pressure of natural resources, including deforestation, illegal  mining, and wildlife trafficking, compounded (inter alia) by economic instability, Impact of food  insecurity, malnutrition, poverty, climate security risk, unemployment, displacements, pollution,  climate change, loss of biodiversity (the focus is human) etc. PANCANR seeks to bridge gaps in  national, regional, and international efforts by fostering collaboration, 
The Pan African Network for the Conservation of Africa’s Natural Resources (PANCANR) is a non-profit continental network uniting African voices across sectors to champion the sustainable and transparent management of Africa’s natural wealth. We bring together experts, civil society, policymakers, and grassroots leaders to catalyze solutions that protect forests, mineral resources, biodiversity, and the rights of local communities.
Launched in 2022 with support from visionary African leaders and development partners, PANCANR was born from a shared urgency to address systemic mismanagement and exploitation of Africa’s resources. In 2023, we expanded our network, deepened member engagement, and trained hundreds of stakeholders in advocacy etc... By 2024, we established our governance structure and initiated the establishment of Working Groups.
Organizational Structure
PANCANR is guided by a participatory, multi-tiered governance model:
General Assembly
The highest decision-making body comprising all registered members.
Board of Directors
Elected by the General Assembly, the Board ensures strategic oversight and accountability.
Executive Secretary
Leads daily operations, organizes meetings and communicates between members;
Steering Committee
Composed of the interim coordinator, two WG leads, and two WG rapporteurs.
Working Groups
Forests Working Group (FWG) and Mining Working Group (MWG) Tracking environmental impacts.
National Chapters
Country-level hubs that adapt our mission, mobilize national actors, and feed grassroots insights.
